I think that we all can relate to this even in the (current) age. Life throws challenges at all these characters, and I think not everything is perfect, you know, and not everything is a unicorn land with rainbows and sparkles and roses.

Picerno doesn’t want to give away too many plot details, but she will allow that “there are a couple of surprises, plot-wise. The action in “Love Never Dies” picks up 10 years after “Phantom,” and both lead characters have changed over the course of 10 years. … Like any human, she’s a living, breathing character, and it’s really exciting that even right now, the Christine Daae that I am right now is more evolved than the one I began with in rehearsal in August. Picerno has been playing Christine for 10 months, and she has discovered after more than 250 performances that the character is “still evolving. But she said that her opera training is crucial to her having the stamina to perform the demanding role night after night. The role of Christine is a vocally challenging one, even for an experienced opera singer like Picerno, who performs in six shows out of eight each week.

“You chip away, little by little, and you really study, and then once you have the essence of her, then I wear the skin that is Christine, and I infuse my own experiences, my own heartbreak, my own joys, my own successes, my own abandonment, and that’s how I start to build the character,” Picerno said. The music helps to illuminate Christine’s personality, as well as her relationships with her husband, her son, and the Phantom. “You can find the character, at least the foundation for the colors of her, in the score itself,” she said.

… She makes her decisions out of love and strength.”

“I think that Christine has unfortunate circumstances and challenges thrown at her, but I do find her still a strong character. “I consider myself a very strong woman, but I do also realize that Meghan Picerno of 2018, the strength that I can show and the freedom I have to show my strength as a woman in this way, is not the same kind of strength that Christine Daae of 1907 would have,” Picerno said in a recent phone interview. In creating her take on the character, Picerno, who’s also an opera singer, did a lot of research on the time period, the early years of the 20th century. Meghan Picerno, who plays Christine Daae in the sequel, lives in a different world, and century, than her character, but she said it’s still possible to find parallels between their experiences. The two are reunited when Christine comes to New York to perform. Rossum also has recorded two albums, Inside Out (2007) and Sentimental Journey (2013).The musical “Love Never Dies” revisits the characters of “The Phantom of the Opera” a decade later, as the Phantom is living on Coney Island, and his great love Christine Daae is a world-renowned opera singer with a husband and a child. Rossum starred on Showtime’s Shameless which has given her more creditability after Dragonball (which-not to editorialize-was a failure as a movie). She has appeared in Inside, Beautiful Creatures, and Before I Disappear. Other Credits: She has been such movies big-budget movies as Mystic River, The Day after Tomorrow, Poseidon, and Dragonball: Evolution. As an actress, Rossum does a fine job as wide-eye innocent Christine. However, for many Rossum was their first experience with the character and helped garner the musical more fans. Vocal Quality: Much like Sarah Brightman, Rossum as Christine is polarizing, some people adore her performance and others loathe it.Rossum was cast as Christine in the 2004 Phantom of the Opera movie. She then started to pursue acting at the age of 12. Rossum started out singing at the Metropolitan Opera in the children's choir. Background: Emmy Rossum is originally from New York City.
